Poem: On Labor
November 26, 2006 by glitch0530
Wondering what may have been
Should I have done this or that,
Thinking what could’ve been
The present could have been naught.
To do things now or later,
To act or think to ponder,
We find the strength to muster
Our faith will take us further.
To spend no time in reverie
In sleep we partake our dreams,
With blistered hands and calloused feet
We toil until no longer.
We strive to find our labor
For rice and fish we haste
To make our bodies stronger
With hope we pray for better.
We should only take what’s ours
And leave Caesar to his own
To purloin those of another
Is like taking from a brother.
Whether Life be hard, or easy
Is how we see it be
But one thing is for certain
Manna will be a mountain.
